Aloha! Welcome to the Pua Melia Clinic
Pua Melia (pronouced Poo-ah Mel-ee-ah) is also known as Frangpeni and Plumeria.
About Me
I trained as a Medicinal Chemist exclusively, until one day I was in a lecture and when I was taken aback by a thought, which was about the safety and efficacy of drugs and vaccines (jabs), I initially ignored it as I was of the thought of, well, it was tested - so it should be safe. Kept doing my studies and thought no more about it initially. I kept applying for work and was getting nowhere, but, the whole feeling of "are drugs and jabs all what they are cracked up to be, why is this coming back?" so I decided to do a bit of research, within this research I decided to study herbalism, I was always interested in natural product chemistry so I thought that it wouldn't hurt doing something I love. So I got my diplomas and this niggling feeling kept on coming, I checked the medical information with my scientific knowledge and it dawned on me why I kept having a niggle, it turns out through toxicological studies that the meds / jabs weren't as safe as what we are lead to believe. Fast forward to 2009, I enrolled on a course in Reflexology and passed that (with the health and safety & anatomy) the more I was doing my holistic therapy studying, the more I was twigging with the soul path I am meant to be on.
If you were wondering about if I had abandoned science or not, I haven't as I have completed a MSc in Science with the Open University (Milton Keynes), with a view to do a PhD in Cannabinoids, but neurosciencey / malaria PhDs are interesting as well. I love herbalism and my big love of Indole Alkaloids - note to all, do NOT mention indole alkaloids to me as I tend to go all gooey and excited - a testament to my science background. Plus also, it is a great excuse to study my holistics. My other research interest, is in psychopharmacology and in particular Cannabinoids. (you see where this is going?) I did a period of time during studies in a research lab in Cannabinoids.
Upon completion of my MSc and after further training, I hope to make my clinic a research centre and to further my interest in what can be best described as phytopsychopharmacology - to the lay man herbs which is used in mental disorders and ailments.
My certification (currently as I am in the middle of studying certification)
BSc in Applied Chemistry - The Robert Gordon University, Aberdeen
PgCert Chemical Science - Aberdeen University
S. N. H. S. Dip (Herbalism) and (Advanced Herbalism)
VTCT certification in Reflexology
MSc in Science - The Open University
Ongoing training:
Association of Reflexology bridging course to upgrade my certification in reflexology
Advanced Herbal Training Program (American Herbalist's Guild - via Steven Horne / Thomas Easley) (Not done for a while, so rusty)
Being guided to do colour therapy as well to combine with the reflexology as well as doing a homeopathy BSc or professional course.
The affirmation of Pua Melia is:
"I am open to the spiritual wealth of my native culture. I am clear and empowered to practice my traditions"
The clinic vision is to help to get people back to natural medicine. I use the Pua Melia flower to remind myself that I am following my own soul journey into natural medicine and I connect to the spiritual wealth of Hawaii. Tropical flowers just have me in awe and I immediately connected to the plumeria flower upon seeing it. So the Pua Melia flower is the mascot and the embodiment of of what the practice stands for.
I can be contacted on skype and my user name is "holisticjanine"
